Notes
Operations:
🔹First and Third Sat-Sun of each month: 10 am - 6 pm
🔹Every Wed. Noon-2 pm
Please book your stay accordingly!
Dishwasher: We have a small dishwasher for your convenience. You need to manually fill the water chamber w/ the provided pitcher, then set the wash mode. It's great for dishes and cups, reducing hand-washing. Instructions are in your cottage booklet and on the machine itself.
Cool Refrigerator: We have a 4.5cu ft refrigerator with a separate freezer compartment. It's a 3/4 size refrigerator with plenty of space for a weekend getaway. If you plan to stay longer, we recommend shopping modestly before arrival and then restocking at our awesome local grocery store and food co-op in town.
Gas BBQ: A Weber Propane BBQ is available for your stay. BBQ tools and a propane tank are provided. Just bring your secret sauce!
Firepit: A propane Polywood Firepit is set out in the forest garden next to the cottage. Four Adirondack chairs and a propane tank are provided for enjoying the night sky and evening bird songs. We ask that you please turn the propane tank valve ON and OFF before and after use. The tank is located inside the fire pit table. There is a cover that can be stored inside the table during use and put on when you are done. Please note the glass surround gets very HOT, so please do not touch it and wait to put the cover on until it cools down.
PETS:
We are a dog-friendly cottage. That being said, there is no fence to contain your dog. Please always have your dog on a leash while outside.
As mentioned, we are neighbors to a shooting range. If your dog is afraid of loud noise, please PLAN to be away from the property during the listed hours for the Orcas Island Sportsman Club. We do not want your pet to be distressed or run away. So, please take this into account for your itinerary.
Our cottage is best for active explorers of the island, folks who want to be "up and out " with their pet before 10 am on weekends and Wednesdays.
🔹Pet Fee Applied.
🔹No more than one dog per stay. This is a tiny 512sq ft cottage. (two dog exception for small dogs under 20lbs)
🔹We reserve the right to decline dogs of certain breeds, weights, and ages
🔹Dogs must be on a leash at all times while outside
🔹No dogs on furniture, especially the bed and linens!
🔹Dogs must be socialized with humans and other animals
🔹Do not allow your dog to chase wildlife
🔹Crate your dog at night
🔹Never Leave Your Dog Alone in the cottage at ANY TIME
🔹Your dog must be with you at all times (yes, that was redundant)
🔹There is no fence, so please keep your dog leashed
🔹There is potentially loud gun noise on the first and third Saturdays and Sundays each month from 10 am to 6 pm, and every Wednesday from noon to 2 pm. Please do not have your dog at the cottage at this time if they are afraid of loud noises.
Infants not recommended: The bedroom is very small with no room for a Graco crib setup. Along the gun range, possibly interrupting nap times for infants, we do not recommend our cottage for infants. Children over the age of 2 are welcome as regular guests with your reservation.
Neighborhood
Our neighbors are fishermen, chefs, and waiters. They are an integral part of the island community. Though you may not see anyone, you may hear a chainsaw running or cars passing by through the wooded spaces between homes.
We're also neighbors with the Orcas Island Sportsman Club. The range has set hours and rules and is accessible to the public with prior arrangements. Members and Non-members may use the facilities only if a Safety Officer is available. It's run by volunteers and offers a window into time-honored, island sportsmanship.
Operations: First and Third Sat-Sun of each month: 10 am - 6 pm
Every Wed. Noon-2 pm
West Beach Resort: Just a mile down the road is West Beach. There is limited public parking, but it is one of the best places for sunsets on a sandy beach. The beach turns private as you walk to the north (left), but quiet walks along the beach are acceptable by the local neighbors. West Beach Resort is a campground with a small store offering ice cream, wine/beer, and espresso. It also has a full tackle and bait shop. There's also a long dock where you can rent a mooring if you come by boat. Please check out their website for more information.
Enchanted Forest Rd is a magical stretch of deep cedar forest. It's also a popular road used by locals and visitors. There is no shoulder on the road, so walking along it can occasionally be obscured by fast-moving cars. We recommend choosing a hike or walk in one of the many state parks and preserves on the island.
Access
There is a house on the front part of the one-acre property that is rented long-term. There are trees and a large lawn separating the two, but you can still see the other house. You have exclusive use of the lawn and forested area around the cottage.
There is a locked storage shed for private use only. If you have bicycles and kayaks/paddleboards, you'll need to store them outside, next to the cottage. It's a very safe island and surrounding area, but please bring your own lock to secure your items as needed.
Space
Living Room:
Inside, the cottage is cozy and well-appointed at just under 600 sq ft. Rustic hardwood floors, a gas fireplace, and a Samsung Smart TV make the living room an inviting place to unwind after a day of island exploring. The living room couch folds out to a comfortable queen bed, making the space flexible for two guests with young children or another couple.
🔹Napoleon Gas Fireplace with remote control
🔹Large-screen Samsung Smart TV (stream your own apps or choose from free Samsung TV offerings)
🔹Super comfy; sofa folds out into a memory-foam queen sleeper. Extra linens provided.
🔹Blackout shades for privacy
🔹Wet Bar with a nice selection of glassware and mixology kit
Kitchen:
The kitchen is amazingly versatile for a small cottage. There is a large kitchen island that holds an impressive selection of small appliances, serving ware, and a wet bar. You'll find a full set of cookware and bakeware, plus a coffee bar. The electric range is older but clean and full-size, with four burners for baking and cooking. The oven is also full-size, so you can bake anything you would in a normal-sized home.
🔹Large, workstation sink
🔹Coffee bar with drip coffeemaker, grinder, French press, electric kettle, and amenities (coffee, tea, filters, and sweeteners stocked)
🔹Toaster, Slow-cooker, rice cooker, blender, handheld mixer, salad spinner, strainers
🔹Cuisinart stainless steel cookware set
🔹Full set of bakeware, serving ware, Pyrex dishes
🔹Sharp knives
🔹GE stackable washer and dryer
🔹Cool 4.5cu ft refrigerator with separate freezer space. Smaller, limited-sized fridge
🔹Small countertop dishwasher. A nod to convenience that requires manual water addition, but then is fully automated. Great for dishes and cups.
🔹Best practice is handwashing of glassware, pots, and pans
Bedroom:
There is one modest-sized bedroom with a hanging closet and luggage racks. The comfy queen mattress has quality linens, with extra blankets and pillows stashed in the closet for the sofa bed.
🔹Queen Nova 10" Firm memory-foam mattress
🔹Hanging closet with wooden hangers and luggage racks
🔹Floating nightstands for phone charging and personal items. Please do not put a heavy weight on it or use it as a brace for getting up and down.
🔹Cool lighting fixtures
🔹Blackout Shades with Top-Down-Bottom-Up option
Full Bathroom:
There is one bathroom in the cottage, accessed from the bedroom. Newly remodeled, it features a custom-tiled floor, a generously sized single vanity with a large mirror, and a walk-in shower with a shower wand and rainhead option. For this architecture, we recommend couples, small families with young children, or "besties" who don't mind walking by at night.
🔹Nice shower with rainhead and shower wand
🔹Bright, clean, with great lighting
🔹Plenty of quality towels and amenities
🔹Must walk through the bedroom to access the bathroom
Dining:
The cottage has a kitchen island with seating for four. Bar stools and a large countertop provide a great space for eating, extra seating for movie night, or sitting around playing cards.
🔹Kitchen Island seating
🔹Counter-height bar stools
🔹Four-person seating
Deck:
There is a small deck off the kitchen that offers a two-burner Weber BBQ and stools for sitting outside while your meal is cooking. BBQ tools and an extra propane tank are provided. Just bring your favorite grilling ingredients and rubs.
Firepit:
Our favorite area to hang out is the fire pit garden. There are four super-comfortable Adirondack chairs and a large propane fire pit, surrounded by native plants, cedar trees, and forest. In good weather, it's a great place for morning coffee and a book as well.
🔹Polywood propane fire pit
🔹Four Polywood Adirondack chairs
🔹Native garden all around you
🔹Propane tank provided inside the fire pit table. Please turn the tank valve ON and OFF when using.
🔹Please cover after it has been turned OFF and COOLED down.
Lawn:
There is a new and growing lawn on the opposite side of the fire pit garden. The grass is gently growing in and filling in, so we ask that you please let it grow this first summer of 2026. Eventually, it will be a strong lawn where yard games can happen. We also have new, evergreen trees growing as a living fence. These too will fill in, providing privacy and greenery.
Parking:
There is a large parking area with plenty of space for two cars to park and turn around. If you have visitors, please know you may have to jockey around to get a third car turned around to head out.
We hope to host your getaway to Orcas Island!
